Our Process

Our Process

Approximately eight years ago, Vi&Jax owner Jillian Weselosky had a dream. After two-and-a-half years of trying out different things, the real Vi&Jax was created - a shop to create girl's clothing, and with that, clothing made from quality materials.

Five-and-a-half years later, we are the largest handmade, custom bamboo clothing shop in Canada. This includes sizes newborn to adult 3XL, blankets, gender free options and other handmade accessories.

All of our fabric is OEKO-TEX® certified. The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide consistent, independent testing & certification system that tests for harmful substances used during all stages of production (raw materials, intermediate, and end product.) This includes testing for illegal substances, legally regulated substances, known harmful (but not legally regulated) chemicals, and other parameters for health care. It provides manufacturers with a uniform benchmark when evaluating harmful substances potentially used in the production process. Extensive product checks and regular company audits also ensure that the industry has a globally sustainable awareness of the responsible use of chemicals.

We are also proud of our vibrant, silky soft, and durable bamboo fabric options, and our ability to employ women and parents whilst offering a fair, livable wage.

If you are curious on our process, we are so glad you are here learning alongside us.

OUR PROCESS

Prints and solids are carefully selected by our team (and sometimes, our customers!) to appeal to a large audience. If we can't find the print we are envisioning, it is made by Jill herself.

Once selected, they are printed by one of our fabric printers. Our printing process can take a bit longer than others, due to our extra vibrancy and durability.

After fabric is received, it is cut, and then sewn by our team of seamstresses in Calgary, AB.

This process varies based on the amount of fabric being cut and sewn, but on average, we see 12-14 weeks. This is due to the materials being custom printed, and made exclusively for you.

Our pieces are then inspected, shipped, and delivered to our customers.

As we work through hundreds of pieces every month, we have seen and loved watching our customer base grow and evolve into a community of supportive, like-minded people.

As always, we thank our customers from the bottom of our hearts, as the support and love for Vi&Jax is something that can't be replaced.

Shop Update: The Pivot

Hello Squad

For those who do not see me in the VIP, I feel like I say this every week but it’s getting busier and busier! Summer is flying by and the whole team is working so hard, and a lot is happening behind the scenes.

As you know, we have seen a lot of challenges over the past year and we have made some changes in the past six months, in the hopes of being able to deliver you all the best quality clothing, which you and your kids both love. Unfortunately, things have not moved as quickly as we would have liked, so we are going to pivot again, taking a break from custom fabric drops for a few months, and even longer if needed. We all love the silky soft, quality bamboo that the shop has come to be known for, so this was not an easy decision. However, you have all been so patient as we worked through the delays and challenges, we know this is the right decision to make until we get 100% caught up on all our drops.

What does this mean for the shop? Will we stop having drops all together?

No, this means that will be shifting to having in stock and or in hand fabric that does not need to be custom printed. This will allow us to still move some things along, in between those periods where fabric is printing or shipping. With all the drops that are coming in we will also a ton of leftover fabric so we will continue to do leftover fabric drops in the VIP.

One thing I’ve learned over the last 10 years is to pivot pivot pivot. You must make changes all the time in life and it’s the exact same in business. There are so many things you must make changes on for the long game so I’m so excited for what’s to come and how this is all going to work out 🙌🏼🙌🏼

As always, if you have any questions about your orders or need to size up on any of the items, please do not hesitate to reach out via email. If you need to change your address or if you just have a general question pop us a email .. I swear we don’t bite and we are here to help!

Once again, I know it has been a long road but we are getting closer and I want to thank you ALL for your support and patience while we navigate though these challenges.

To keep updated on where we are at with all our drops, you can visit our website which we aim to have updated every Monday: https://www.viandjax.com/blogs/news/update-thread

Hope you all have a great week!

❤ Jillian and the Vi & Jax Team
